Our town 2

I've lived in Bemidji for about 8 years now so i've explored quite a bit of this town. I've seen both the good and bad sides of Bemidji but have grown to love and appreciate it. I am starting this blog because I think I've found all the diamonds in the rough and hope to share my experiences and endeavors in this town with everyone. We are surrounded by beautiful lakes, abundant trees, clean breathing air, busy streets, and pretty much everything you need  to stay content.

To me, fashion is my art. It is my self expression. It might be how i feel emotionally, the reflection of the season, or to be honest it could be the only clothes I have clean/steamed/ironed. Makeup is another thing that makes me feel put together and more "myself". I love my eyeshadows the most. Every day I can match my makeup to my clothing even if it's not exact. I do follow some trends but for the most part I just dress as myself. You should too. Make yourself feel good every day by dolling up or don't....whatever your style is-own it!! A lady told me one day "I love your style. Own it girl!"

There are a few hidden stylish gems in the city of Bemidji. They are mostly found downtown where it's always poppin with people. There is art on every corner (literally) and all the local shops are within walking distance. We have the Yellow Umbrella which is my personal favorite along with 218 gift and the Fort . I've been shopping at YU since they first opened and I still have to force myself not to overspend because I fall in love with so many pieces there!

I really do prefer to shop at Boutiques over malls any day. Each boutique gives me a different vibe and I live for unique clothing and delicate fabrics. Most of my clothes are from boutiqes and are hand wash/air dry/steam clean.

Another cool place downtown is Chocolates Plus. Freshly handmade chocolate truffles, fudge, caramels, and to die for double dipped chocolate peanuts and dark chocolate dusted almonds. Need I say more?

Need a coffee fix? Head over the bridge to Dunn Bros coffee shop. They have a fireplace and chill atmosphere and bomb coffee. My drink of choice would be an iced vanilla nirvana. So c-r-e-a-m-y. Also, their breakfast sandwiches are amazing.

A couple little shops exist near Dunn Bros one being the MacKenzie Place. You'll find all sorts of knicknaks, candles, gifts and Bemidji apparel. Right next to that is Sunrise Foods. It's a great place to find all your expensive natural skincare needs. You can also find lots of herbs and spices along with essential oils, farm fresh eggs, dried figs, wild rice and all sorts of seed beads.

If local is your label, head on over to Harmony Co Op to find all the hipsters and GOOD FOOD. Yes you will pay some big bucks if you wanna get all your groceries there but I personally like their natural skincare items especially when I can snag a sale like 2 for 6 bar soap.... I love my bar soap!!  Another favorite there is their selection of dairy free drinks, spices, and tea.

So if you're going to dress like a local than grab your leggings, ripped jeans, crop tops, camo, sunglasses, sweatshirts, plaid shirts, converse, rubber boots, and daisy dukes cuz we up north don't cha know? No, there is some really cool fashionistas I know here that are locals, always on point but they are like finding a rare gem. Point is I've seen some really crazy outfits around town that I would never wear but at least they own themselves.

"Bemidji is a trippy place"

Peace and Love to you all.
